Ok Om Bok Festival in Tra Vinh province in 2022
On the evening of November 8, at the Ao Ba Om Culture and Tourism Area, the Ok Om Bok Festival in Tra Vinh province in 2022 was held in a bustling atmosphere, imbued with national identity.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Kim Ngoc Thai, beat the drum to open the festival.

Attending the festival was Mr. Kim Ngoc Thai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Van Dau, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial departments and agencies; localities in the province; retired officers; monks and a large number of people inside and outside the province.

The Ok Om Bok Festival in Tra Vinh province, also known as the traditional moon worshiping ceremony of Khmer people, is recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage. The festival is a deep-rooted tradition to preserve and promote the traditional cultural identity of the Khmer ethnic group in the South. 

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Le Van Dat, delivered a welcome speech at the festival.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Dau, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, warmly praised the contributions of sectors, departments, businesses, and people in the province over the past time to have contributed to the economic situation - social development in the province is stable. Furthermore, the movement of building new rural areas is increasingly agreed upon and responded to by the People; developed socio-cultural fields; cultural values are preserved and promoted; guaranteed social security; national defense - security continued to be maintained.

The festival's organization aims to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere, as well as the motivation to implement economic recovery and development solutions effectively and achieve socio-economic development targets in 2022. On a higher level, the aim is to contribute to successfully implementing the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress of the Provincial Party Committee. At the same time, to preserve and promote the national cultural identity, introduce and promote the images of the Tra Vinh people, the potentials of the province, the unique cultural features of the ethnic minorities in the province in general, and the festival culture of the Khmer people in particular to visitors, and the people.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee encourages all departments, branches, monks, and Khmer people in the province to maintain solidarity and promote national cultural values, effectively preserve and exploit heritage values, educate generations for generations, and contribute to protecting the national cultural identity.

Most Venerable Thach Sok Xane, Chairman of the Association for Solidarity of Patriotic Monks in Tra Vinh province, called on Khmer people and monks in the province to continue promoting the strength of national unity, patriotic traditions and preserving and promoting them. Vietnam's national cultural identity, the practice of uniting the Kinh - Khmer - Hoa - Cham ethnic groups, trying their best to successfully implement the Resolution on socio-economic development of the provincial Party Committee for the 2020 term - 2025, join hands to contribute to the construction of new rural areas and civilized cities, raise awareness of great national unity and religious solidarity for the goal of an advanced society, and democrat, and justice country.

At the festival, delegates and people enjoyed many cultural exchanges between the Khmer Art troupe of Ca Mau province and the Khmer Anh Binh Minh Art troupe of Tra Vinh province. They managed to recreate the traditional moon worshiping festival of the Khmer people. Other activities include the parade around Ba Om Pond, the release of lanterns, and the water lights. 

Leaders of Department of Labour, War invalids and Social affairs and the Provincial Study Promotion Association give scholarships and gifts to students.

On this occasion, the Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs coordinated with the Provincial Study Promotion Association to present 20 gifts to disadvantaged students in Chau Thanh district.
